Kajiado County officials have confirmed that a woman died as a result of jumping out of a speeding government ambulance.
The ambulance was contacted by Bissil Health Center to help a child who needed specialized treatment.
According to eye witnesses at the health facility, the pregnant 26-year-old mother boarded the ambulance together with a relative and the sick child.
The nurse accompanying the ambulance sat next to the driver leaving the sick child, mother and relative on the rear side of the vehicle.
Esther Somoire, the Health CEC Member, revealed that the woman succumbed to injuries sustained at Kajiado County referral Hospital.
Somoire declined to make further comments about the Friday night incident citing that the matter was under police investigation.
Officials who sought anonymity said that the woman opened the ambulance’s door and jumped off upon realizing her son had died.
