Manchester United have been greatly affected by injuries to their key players this season.

However, the team is pleased to welcome back some of the players as they return to the training ground following lengthy spells on the sideline.

The latest star to return to their Carrington Training Base is Jesse Lingard ahead of their clash with Manchester City in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semifinal.

The 27-year-old England midfielder and Anthony Martial left the training ground on Friday due to illness.

This explains their absence from the barren draw in the FA Cup tie against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Manchester United is expected to miss the services of their boisterous French midfielder, Paul Labile Pogba, who is set to undergo surgery on his troublesome ankle.

Kenya Mails established that some stars returning from long term injuries were involved in contact training.

They are Diogo Dalot, Timothy Fosu Mensah, and Eric Baily.

The first leg of the Carabao Cup semifinal between the two sides will be played on Tuesday, January 7, at Old Trafford.

The match is set to kick off at 2300 hrs GMT.
