Governor James Ongwae is planning to kick out his deputy Joash Maangi, Kenya Mails has established.
Numerous sources within Kisii County revealed that Governor Ongwae and his deputy Maangi had parted ways, with the latter being accused of disrespecting the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and its leader Raila Odinga.
It is on this effect that Mr Maangi’s official cars were withdrawn and taken by police officers on Friday morning.
Following the incident the Deputy County boss claimed that his life was in danger.
“That is the party that sponsored him to parliament, when he decided to disrespect it then whoever who is his direct boss should deal with him,” a source at Orange House said.
The source further revealed that Mr Maangi was unwanted in ODM because of his association with DP Ruto.
A source that works in the office of Governor James Ongwae revealed that their were plans to impeach Mr Maangi and already Members of the County Assembly (MCA’s) had discussed the matter.
The source stated that Governor Ongwae was unhappy with how Mr Maangi was closely working with DP Ruto.
Matters worsened when Mr Maangi recently claimed that corrupt leaders from the region were working with Interior CS Fred Matiangi.
“His words did not go well with the county at large and issues were raised against Mr Maangi. He is starting fights with everyone,” the source said.
In a recent interview, Mr Maangi was featured on Citizen TV where he openly declared his support for DP Ruto.
In addition, Mr Maangi joined Jubilee party and supported Mr MacDonald Mariga in the Kibra’s by-election which did not go well with his party that supported Mr Imran Okoth who won the elections.
“We are tired of his behaviours, ahead of the last elections its Mr Ongwae who asked Raila Odinga to forgive him otherwise he could not be holding that office,” a source within Orange House said.
In 2016, Mr Odinga kicked out Mr Maangi from the ODM party for his support for President Uhuru Kenyatta and his DP William Ruto.
This forced Mr Maangi to shortly join Jubilee party but differed with Mr Chris Obure the CAS Transport on who would run for Governorship.
Mr Maangi then went back to ODM and was welcomed by Governor Ongwae.
