A police land cruiser was on Saturday night involved in an accident along Kiganjo- Gatundu road.

The accident left four officers attached to the Critical Infrastructure Protection Unit (CIPU) in Wajir County seriously injured. The vehicle of registration number GKB 314R was equally damaged.

The officers identified as Paul Nduati, Patrick Kariuki, Anthony Karanja and Gabriel Kamau were rushed to the Gatundu Teaching and Referral Hospital.

Witnesses that spoke to Kenya Mails said that the vehicle was on a high speed and the driver lost control when he tried negotiating a sharp corner.

“The vehicle was being driven at a very high speed and when the driver arrived at some corner, we saw it go down,” said Humphrey Mwaniki who witnessed the accident that took place at 8PM.

Mr Mwaniki said that the area was a known black spot since many accidents take place along the stretch.

Mr James Kiambi said that the vehicle hit an electric post before it landed in a ditch.
