A leader associated with Tangatanga political group on Sunday afternoon called for the closure of all the schools in the country.
Taking to his social media accounts, Senate Majority leader who also doubles up as Elgeyo Marakwet leader Kipchumba Murkomen stated that ordinary flu has a record of spreading highly in schools.
He said that with the fact that the government had confirmed a Corona Virus case in the country then the spread could worsen.
Ordinarily, flu spreads fast through Children in School and other social places. It’s my considered opinion that schools should be closed as from tomorrow until the relevant authorities prepare well for better ways of containing #COVID19 in Kenya.— KIPCHUMBA MURKOMEN, E.G.H (@kipmurkomen) March 15, 2020
The first Corona Virus case was reported in the country on Friday morning in a press conference that was held by the Minister of Health Mutahi Kagwe.
So far, a total of 22 people has been put under quarantine at Mbagathi Hospital with specialists observing them for the next two weeks.
On Friday evening Interior Ministry warned Kenyans against holding any public gatherings.
