A Garissa bound bus was on Saturday evening hijacked by suspected bandits.
Sources revealed to Kenya Mails that the bus of registration number KBK 900J of the Salma Bus Services sacco was stopped along Garissa- Liboi road by a group of six bandits.
In a police report filed at Liboi police station, the bandits then drove the bus to a nearby thicket “where all passengers were robbed unknown cash and mobile phones.
“They were held for 1 and a half hours while being caned harshly. Five of the bandits were armed with AK47 riffles and had masks on their faces,” read the police report.
The bandits then ordered the bus to proceed with the passengers on board.
A police officer on Sunday told Kenya Mails that the bandits are suspected to be part of the Faraghon syndicate; a group that operates in the region.
