Police on Saturday morning issued tough conditions for former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko who is detained at Gigiri Police Station.
In a change of tune moments after tens of political leaders visited the ex-Governor at the station, police changed tune and stopped more visits.
Gigiri Police boss Julius Kiragu said that only family members, lawyers and his doctor will be allowed to see Sonko.
This is after the police denied former Machakos County Senator Johnstone Muthama, Kajiado senator Ledama Ole Kina and Kirinyaga Woman Representative Purity Ngirici chance to see him.
“We shall not allow any other person to see Sonko because they are flocking the station unnecessarily,” he said.
Governor Sonko is expected back in court on Tuesday when a ruling on whether he should remain in custody or not will be made.
Police want Governor Sonko to be detained for 30 days as they investigate him on his links to a military group that is operating in Nairobi.
On Friday morning several political leaders visited Sonko and shared photos on social media.
